Elmbrook Board Member Arrested
Preetha Kurudiyara's husband told police he was in an abusive relationship with her and there were prior incidents where she was the aggressor.
As reported 11/30/23 in the Waukesha Freeman, newly elected Elmbrook board member, Preetha Kurudiyara, was charged on 11/22/23 for domestic abuse, disorderly conduct and use of a dangerous weapon. Preetha is charged with throwing a 1-liter bottle of water at her husband after arguing with him during the day.
Per the Journal Sentinel: "Kurudiyara's husband told police he was in an abusive relationship with Kurudiyara and said there had been previous incidents in which Kurudiyara was the aggressor. He did not report the prior incidents to police, the complaint said."
The Freeman notes that when police responded to the incident, "the officer noticed Victim A’s hands were covered in blood and on his pants and shirt. An emergency room doctor said the CAT scan showed fractures in his nose."
Preetha entered a plea of not guilty to her charges and paid a $1,000 bond. A temporary restraining order against Preetha was requested but denied. Details from case 2023CM002001 show that Preetha is only allowed text contact with what appears to be her children.
Preetha advertises being a pediatrician until 2019 on her campaign page.
Up until her election in Spring 2023, Preetha was on the board of the Elmbrook Education Foundation (EEF) and was an officer for Elmbrook's Parent Network. Preetha is currently an advisor to the EEF.

Updates: The official district response on 12/8/23 acknowledges criminal charges against a board member, but notes Preetha is “answerable to the electorate, and by law, the Board is limited in its authority to take action as it relates to any individual Board member’s service on the Board.”
Meanwhile, the hearing on 12/11/23 over the temporary restraining order filed against Preetha was deferred to 12/18/23 at 8:15am due to Victim A/the petitioner being in the hospital.
